About Maecore Services

MAECORE SERVICES is a non-profit, public benefit charity. This charity was formed during the spring of 1994 to commemorate the spirit of my mother, Lizzie Mae Luckett. During her seemingly short life she often shared her spirit with children and the elderly. Mrs. Lizzie Mae Luckett came to visit us January 8, 1937. She returned home to her God on October 24, 1993.

MAECORE SERVICES was formed to promote love and care for family and community. It is powered by God's grace and by the spirit my mother left us for comfort. My father, Mozel Luckett, never called my mother “Lizzie” or “Liz”; he called her “Mae”. We just called her "Mama". Truly she was the "core" of our family. In other words: "MAE" was our CORE.

As I grew older, I understood my mother's world a little better. Clearly, the two most important entities in her life were God and family. In that order, she loved all of us dearly. Through her prayers she guided, protected, and nurtured ten babies into adults. Despite how difficult it must have been to rear ten African American children in Mississippi when Mississippi and the rest of the country were coming to grips with race and reality, she found the time to:

*LIVE her Christianity
*Be a wife, mother, and homemaker
*Participate in Civil Rights Meetings and Marches
*Be a Head Start teacher
*And Perform Community Service and Missionary work.

She was my first example of love and my "Eastern Star". Her daily practice of her spiritual beliefs fortified my resolve to not only value family but to value people. When needed, she cared for aging family members when they needed care and comfort. She always had time to give advice to a wayward child. It is not my aim to “exalt” or “sanctify” my mother or her deeds. Many of her deeds and sacrifices were executed quietly and without recognition. Nevertheless, the people who knew her best would agree that she truly was an awesome gift from God. She was my guardian angel and she was God's child. Her love for God, family and her community planted the seeds for MAECORE’s formation. Although MAECORE SERVICES is small and growing slowly, God's grace has sustained this organization. MAECORE SERVICES is not a prosperous organization. In fact, we have very little monetarily, but we are rich in spiritual assets. Each dollar that MAECORE possesses has spirit value, rather than the usual gold standard value. Anyone in the "blessing business" knows that a "spirit-based dollar" can purchase a thousand times its weight in gold.
